Wilwood Residual Pressure Valve
The Wilwood residual pressure valve are designed to retain a small amount of pressure in a brake line in order to help stop excessive brake pedal travel in both disc and drum brake systems.
The 2lb valve is used in disc brake systems where the master cylinder is often mounted below the horizontal plane of the calipers, meaning fluid can drain back due to gravity and vibration thus causing excessive caliper piston retraction and in turn, a longer brake pedal travel. The minimal 2lb residual pressure pressure prevents fluid from flowing back without causing the brakes to drag.
The 10lb valve is used with drum brake applications. The ten pound valve is used to compensate for return spring tension and maintain wheel cylinder sealing within the drums.
Wilwood residual valves are manufactured from billet Aluminium and are colour coded for easy identification. They have 1/8NPT female threaded ports. Adaptors are available to adapt the valves to most brake lines.
