Bell KC3 CMR Karting Helmet in Tracer White. In September 2008,Bell Racing Europe was the first manufacturer in the world tocertify a helmet to the new CMH Standard, developed jointly by theFIA Institute and the Snell Memorial Foundation. Driver helmetswere so far made for adults only and the standards used to approvethem were tested on adults. Adult helmets tend to be too heavy andtoo big for younger drivers. The new Snell-FIA CMH standard hasbeen scientifically developed to create helmets designed for allyoung racing drivers. Researchers examined and measured the humanhead from age six onwards and several helmet shapes and sizes weredefined. It led to the creation of a Youth Helmet Standard thatwill soon have to be attained by all young drivers helmets.

Under CIK regulations, the Snell-FIA CMH standard (CMR) isrecommended for drivers under 18 years old and will be mandatoryfrom 01/01/2010 latest for drivers under 15 years old. Thisstandard is for Karting use only and is not accepted for personsolder than 18 years.
